lorax

we saw the lorax on friday.  elijah, ethan and me.

i thought elijah said that the lorax looked like landon (chunky).  that gave ethan and me a good laugh.  he didn't actually say that and clarified later on.  i can't remember what he really said.  what i imagined was just way too funny

Elijah's summary of the morning

he he!

translation: luke and landon are being very good.  ethan is/was being very bad and had to go to his room.  :(  but he changed his attitude!  :)

dichotomy

Ethan's giving Landon his medicine. so, so cute!

Ethan is such an amazingly complex kid. he's soooo sweet and so very thoughtful sometimes. and then other times... well, let's just say that he has a dual personality.

longwood

one day recently, i took ethan to longwood gardens for some special time, just the two of us.

can you tell that he was having some trouble getting into it?   he wouldn't even take his coat off.

he really wanted elijah there.

they fight and fight.  but elijah is ethan's best friend.

but we had a good time and i'm glad we did it.

ethan's going to kindergarten in the fall.  half of me thinks it'll be such a great thing for him.  and the other half of me worries -- especially after days like this one.

one week

before the twins turned one, this was a week in the colley household, give or take a few items:

  • - 6 cans of premium, solid-gold, special premie formula
  • - 56 bottles
  • - 2 gallons of milk
  • - 1 1/2 gallons of "fancy" milk
  • - 2 pints of lemonade
  • - 1 loaf of bread
  • - 1/2 a bottle of spray butter -- ha ha, just kidding...  but it SEEMS like it
  • - 1 six-pack of beer
  • - 70 diapers
  • - 2 boxes of wipes
  • - 10 nilla wafers
  • - 1 package of puffs
  • - 30 chicken nuggets
  • - 28 waffles
  • - 10 cups of apple sauce
  • - 7 tubes of yogurt
  • - 5 bowls of vanilla icecream
  • - 5 - 10 brownies
  • - 7 small servings of chocolate chips
  • - 7 cups of wawa coffee
  • - 1 bottle of coffee creamer
  • - 4 english muffins
  • - 7 apples
  • - 4 packages of frozen vegetables
  • - 2 sweet potatoes
  • - 5 bags of fruit snacks
  • - 1 box of baby cereal
  • - 2 boxes of hamburger helper
the biggest change with the twins turning one is that we can wean them off of the solid-gold formula and get them into whole milk.

which means we can probably just go ahead and buy ourselves a cow or two.

but still, ya gotta try to see the silver lining of no more solid-gold formula.

that's a beautiful thing.

one year check up

the twins had their one-year check up with dr. ann on friday.

they did great!

2 shots apiece + blood work = CRYING & lots of it.

but they don't seem to be any worse for the wear.  (thank goodness!)

luke:
  • - at birth: 4 pounds 8 ounces.  at one:  19 pounds 3 ounces!
  • - 6th % ile
landon
  •  - at birth: 4 pounds.  at one: 21 pounds 11 ounces!
  •  - 25th % ile
poor landon had a DOUBLE ear infection -- much to our surprise.  but he likes the amoxicillin, so there's the silver lining.

now they can have things like cheerios!

and get upgraded seats!  (but still backwards. bummer.)

we celebrated at chilis.  landon ate a lemon. go figure.

and we had fun at the children's museum in wilmington.

the blurs are elijah and ethan right before elijah wiped out.

so much to be thankful for!!

and yet i find that work is stressing me out and i need to REFOCUS!!!

but, still, soooooooo much to be thankful for!

the twins were pretty tired this weekend.  being one is tough stuff!

elijah's awesomeness

elijah was trying to tie his shoes, which he's gotten really good at.

but, of course, i can do it a little faster.  i'm, uhm, older.

elijah asks: "mommy, why can you tie so much faster?"

me:  "well, you're doing awesome.  i've just been tying shoes for about 30 years longer than you."

elijah with a cute, sly smile: "but, mommy, you're not even 30."

ha ha ha ha ha!

awesome!

this kid's gonna go far!
